Women's Soccer in Colorado

Why Colorado is the world capital of women's soccer

In 2023, women’s soccer announced itself as the fastest growing major sport in the world. Over 2 billion people tuned in to watch the tournament, up from 1.12 billion in 2019. And although we didn’t defend our title, the United States are currently ranked #1 in the world and have been the most dominant force in the women's game since the first Women’s World Cup in 1991.

No state produces more elite talent for their roster per capita than Colorado. Three of the USWNT's eleven starters grew up playing soccer right here — including the captain, Lindsey Heaps, and two of the leading goal scorers, Sophia Wilson and Mallory Swanson.

The girls soccer pyramid is a maze.

Pay-to-play is out of control.

Good players are quitting.

The MatchReady Movement

Through our grant application process, we are selecting players who show high potential, demonstrated commitment, and financial strain and providing them with

Financial Matching

We match families’ investments in their daughters’ youth soccer careers, effectively cutting their expenses in half.

Sponsored Development

We go beyond matching and provide funds and resources for professional level development for those who need more.

And, for all players at all levels, we are making girls soccer more valuable and less expensive through the following charitable activities:

Free Soccer

We organize free soccer opportunities via scrimmages, kickarounds, pickup games, small camps, and clinics.

Guidance

We create and curate resources to help parents and players make more informed decisions.

We are efficient with our funds.

We work with the soccer pyramid, not against it.

Our donors get to sponsor the players we choose through our player application process.

We’ve aligned our suggested donation tiers with the estimated average annual expenses of players at different levels of soccer. Alternatively, our donors can make a one-time donation with an amount of their choice to contribute to our grassroots fundraising campaign.
